It’s impossible to consume any type of media right now without hearing about the coronavirus–it’s infiltrating all aspects of our life. And while I may write a post more about that in the future, today I want to highlight some of small shops that you might not be aware of that I’m sure would greatly appreciate your support and business right now. I don’t know about you, but one of my favorite ways to past time is to window-shop online…okay, so I do more than window shop 😉 But in all seriousness, it’s important to remember that small shops are often run by only one, maybe two, individuals and that by shopping from them, you are DIRECTLY helping out a family and not a corporation. With that said, here are six of my favorite small shops!
999 Spyglass
999 Spyglass is a small shop run by Claire who is just up the road from me in Baltimore and who also has a Westie, what a small world. Even better, she has a small shop where she embroiders hats. Most of them are Disney themed and are the perfect addition to your Disney bound outfit that also protects you from that hot Florida or California sun. Claire also has custom pet portrait hats–if you don’t wear your dog on your baseball cap, are you really their biggest fan?! You can check out Claire’s shop here!
Sticks and Stones Ceramics
Sticks and Stones Ceramics by Laura Tyler features beautiful, hand made ceramic pieces. I follow Laura on instagram and love watching her posts–especially when I was in ceramics class, I was in awe! Let’s just say, I’m not even a quarter as skilled as she is. From bud vases to mugs, planters to ornaments, you can find a perfect home accessory. Treat yourself or purchase one of these ceramic pieces for a unique gift. You can shop Sticks and Stones here.
Cora’s Den
If you’re a preppy gal, you probably already know about Cora’s Den but I’d be remiss if I didn’t include this one-stop shop for all things monogram. My mom and I have several pieces from Cora’s Den and love them. I have some necklaces and bracelets and my mom has some of the earrings. Fair warning, though, if your ears are really sensitive to weight, these probably aren’t the earrings for you. But, she has hundreds of options in her shop and she’s always open to customs, too! Find the perfect monogram accessory from Cora’s Den here.
The Stampin Mama
Talk about an individual who would really appreciate your support. Kelli is a hard working lady who does all she can to support her family and this shop is how you can personally help. Her account was hacked a while back and she had to start completely from scratch and I know she would be thrilled to have your support. Personally, I have a bar necklace with a Bible verse stamped into it and love it. You can find keychains, necklaces, rings, and bracelets at the Stampin Mama here.
Enchanted Alexandra
Okay, so it’s no secret that I have an abundance of Mouse ears for my Disney trips. I recently came across Enchanted Alexandra and fell in love!!! Her ears are BEAUTIFUL and very unique. I haven’t purchased a pair yet because my wallet begged me to take a chill pill on buying ears, but the next pair I buy is 100% going to be the Golden Afternoon pair (shown below). If anyone wants to spontaneously get me a present, I wouldn’t object…..kidding, mostly! In addition to ornate ears, you can find simplisitic designs for as little as $11 and even Disney inspired tee shirts! You can add to your ear collection by checking out Enchanted Alexandra here.
Beauty and the Tee
Mar and Terry are literal sweethearts! I have ordered several shirts from their small shop and they always go above and beyond to communicate. They even went so far as to alter one of their designs for me to give to my mom as a present. My all-time favorite shirt of theirs is the Phoebe Buffay World Tour shirt pictured below. Just like me, Mar is obsessed with the tv show Friends and has a whole collection of Friends shirts, in addition to Christian, Disney, and other genres. Be sure to check out Beauty and the Tee and support Mar and Terry here. Also make sure to subscribe to their email list because you’ll stay informed about their sales. And follow them on instagram to participate in their trivia quizzes for coupon codes!
There are countless other shops I could have included in this post, and I hate to leave anyone out, so these are just 6 of the amazing shops out there that I love and support. I’m all about spreading the small shop businesses, so there will be several more posts like this in the future. Is there a specific genre you’d like to see? Just jewelry? Just Disney ears? Just shirts? etc. Let me know in the comments below! But most importantly, stay healthy, wash your hands, and take deep breaths as we navigate this crazy and unprecedented time.
