Ah, January…what a nice cold month! And then comes February, an even colder month depending where you live. You have your cute outfit all planned out, but then you see that it’s only 20 degrees outside…ugh! You don’t want to sacrifice your carefully curated style with an ugly winter coat but you also don’t want to freeze. Most of these coats come in straight and plus sizes to include my straight size, mid size, and plus size friends. Yay for inclusive sizing! So let’s get started–I’ve selected some winter coats you can add to your closet so that you can be both warm AND cute.
Land’s End Women’s Plus Size Winter Long Down Coat w/Faux Fur Hood
I got this coat for Christmas and it has been the coat I go to most frequently. The fur trimmed hood is removable if I want less bulk but I love the added touch of the fur so I keep it on. It zips and also has snap buttons for an extra layer of protection, although I find myself just zipping it, although if a big snow storms come, I can see using both. It also has sizeable pockets that my phone actually fits in! It’s also the PERFECT length–I find myself wearing longer sweaters most days and feel like I look like a little toddler when my sweater hangs out my coat. Not only does the extra length keep my legs warm if I’m wearing a sweater, but it hides my sweaters and keeps a cleaner look. For reference, I’m 5’10” and you can see it hits just above my knees. I’m wearing the XL in the straight sizes and I think it fits perfectly and I’m a solid size 16. You can purchase this Land’s End coat here.
Old Navy Plaid Sherpa Coat
This is another coat I got for Christmas and it’s so cute! Buffalo plaid is arguably my favorite print and I have way too much into it (but that won’t stop me from getting more!) and this was the perfect addition to my collection. It is a really good weight–it’s not too heavy or bulky, but it’s not so light that it doesn’t keep you warm at all. Like the Land’s End coat, it also zips and snaps close. And who doesn’t love sherpa? The texture is a nice added detail to make it more than just a plaid coat. This is another coat that is a good length and hits around mid-thigh to offer coverage. Pair this with some black jeans and a black longsleeve body suit and you’re good to go! Purchase this Old Navy coat here. I got an XL and it fits well with enough room for a sweater underneath.
Amazon PRETTYGARDEN Women’s Fashion Long Sleeve Lapel Zip Up Faux Shearling Shaggy Oversized Coat Jacket with Pockets
I do not personally own this coat, but it is on my list of things to purchase next! It’s a #1 best-seller on Amazon and I think is a great dupe for a white sherpa coat I have from Nordstrom’s that is pretty pricey. It gets a 4 star review with overall positive comments, although customers do suggest ordering one size up. My favorite thing about this is that it comes either in a zip up version or in a button version (shown in the picture) for a total of 17 options! It’s sold in sizes Small up to 3X which I love–I’m always excited to find things that my entire friend group could wear if we wanted. This jacket can be purchased here (this is an affiliate link and I can receive a small (very small) commission if purchased through this link at no extra cost to you).
Amazon Pink Platinum Women’s Hooded Chrvn Qult W/Fil Insrt
I LOVE this coat! Quilted, pink, metallic, chevron–what more could you ask for? This coat from Amazon comes in sizes Small-3X so it’s another great size inclusive option. I don’t ever go skiing or to the mountains, but if I did, I can see wearing this with a Love Your Melon beanie and leggings with my snow boats ready to hit the slopes. Or, pair it with mom jeans and some combat boots and you have an edgy yet feminine outfit that’s ready for the colder temps. If pink isn’t your color, this coat also comes in navy, grey, and black. You can purchase this here (this is an affiliate link and I may receive a small commission at no extra cost to you).
