Mother’s Day is only a week and a half away so if you haven’t already started thinking and shopping for your mom, it’s time to get started. This year more than ever, moms really deserve recognition—they’re working so hard to make life as easy as possible for us, and they should really be celebrated every single day for all they do for us. Y’all know I love me some Whimsicality (I’ve written about them in this post and this post). Although their physical store is closed right now, you can still order online! Now is a fantastic time to support small businesses, so I’d urge you to consider shopping as much as you can from local businesses. Anyway, Whimsicality has started to curate little gift sets which takes some of the work out of it for you! While I’m all for personalized and specialized gifts, I understand that not everyone feels confident in their gift giving skills. I particularly like this Naptown gift set (the Annapolis candles smell UHH-MAZING!), but since you’re not all from Annapolis, you might like some of the other ones such as this Happy Home gift set.
SCOUT Products
My mom and I own way, way too many SCOUT products—my dad says we have problems. But they’re just such great bags! My backpack is by SCOUT and it’s lasted all 4 years of college and believe me, I’ve had some heavy books!
With summer quickly approaching, now is a great time to prepare for pool and beach trips (assuming it’s safe to do so by then!). I really like the Plus One Tote Bag, which comes in several cute prints, but the All Is Whale print just screams summertime to me. At $45, it feels like a good bang for your buck.
Swig
Think mom deserves some R&R with a glass of wine? This Swig stemless wine glass with a crab on it is perfect! It’s an exclusive to Whimsicality and is just darling. I have one (fun fact–it was my first wine glass and I’m working on getting the other colors now!) and it just makes me happy when I use it.
If crabs aren’t quite your mom’s taste, then this Palm Springs inspired stemless wine tumbler might be perfect for her! Pink with banana leaves is a print I’m really loving this season, it’s so cheery and let’s be real–we could all use some cheer right now!

The past 6-8 months have been a bit tough for me, and my mom has been so encouraging through all of it and I know lots of moms are a constant source of encouragement for their kids. Art
It’s probably no surprise that, as an art major, I definitely encourage gifting art from local artists! Whimsicality has no shortage of wonderful Annapolis/Chesapeake Bay/Baltimore themed art. For a more whimsical piece, I suggest the Annapolis Alphabet or the Brunch Alphabet (M is for Mimosas!).
If you’re looking for something more serious, the FP Wooden Map of Annapolis is stunning. There are also options for Arnold, Cape St. Claire, the Bay, and Downtown Annapolis.
My all time favorite artist that Whimsicality sells, though, is Kim Hovell. I just can’t get enough of her paintings of oysters–whenever I see one, I just want to run to the beach and feel the sand in my toes and wind in my hair. There are several options to choose from, but shown below is the Unmatted Print-True Blue for $60.
