In this time of isolation and social distancing, it’s fun to dream about future trips and travels that we can go on when all of this ends! My ultimate bucketlist is to visit all of the Disney resorts but I would absolutely love to travel all over the world and see other places so I’m making this list to keep track of my travel wishlist and bucketlist. I’m lucky enough to have done some traveling in my life already, like to Hawaii, Italy, Canada, and a few places around the U.S. but I have no plans of stopping anytime soon!
Black Sand Beach
There are several Black Sand Beaches in the world and I think they are absolutely beautiful! I would love to go to Papenoo Beach in French Polynesia or Saint-Pierre Martinique, although there are also black sand beaches in Italy, Guatemala, and Iceland! Of course all beaches are beautiful, but how cool is it to be on a beach where the sand is black? So neat!
Nova Scotia
I know, it’s not the most exotic locale, but I just have this itch to visit Nova Scotia! I have such a soft spot for coastal towns and lighthouses, they’re just so lovely. And I think Canada is forgotten as a destination, it’s like my backyard (in the North) so why not enjoy it? Sailing trips, lighthouse tours, fishing, seafood, who wouldn’t want to do all of that?!
Brussels, Belgium
In 6th grade, I had to do a project on a French speaking country and I chose Belgium. Ever since, I’ve really wanted to visit it and see La Grande Place and try some frites (fries) with mayo–it’s a Belgian thing that I tried when I did the project and now everyone thinks I’m weird for dipping my fries in mayo! I think Belgium is an underrated European adventure and I can’t wait to see it. I was supposed to be there in June for my graduation trip so this one hits close to home right now.
San Francisco, California
I’m a 90s kid, so Full House played on my TV as a child (and maybe as an adult…) quite a bit. And Princess Diaries is another iconic childhood movie! Of course, that means I just have to visit San Francisco one day. The Golden Gate Bridge is so beautiful and the Walt Disney Family Museum is also in San Francisco and will add to my Disney adventures. Two of my college friends are from California so it would be super cool if we could all meet up one day there together!
Marrakech, Morocco
Morocco is one of my favorite pavilions in EPCOT and I think it’s only fair that I see the real place. I almost went on a winter break immersion trip to Marrakech in college, but I chickened out. The architecture is just breathtaking and is so rich with history. I’m not sure when I’ll get to go to Morocco, but I really hope it happens one day!
Iceland
One of my big dreams in life is to see the Northern Lights, I am just in awe of such a natural phenomena. We really don’t deserve the Earth! I’ve heard that Iceland is a good place to see them and I’d also like to explore Iceland, which seems like another slightly forgotten country. Iceland has puffins, Icelandic horses, stunning waterfalls like Hengifoss, and Icelandic villages such as Flatey–what more could you ask for than amazing animals, landscapes, and historic pieces of the country’s history?
Amalfi Coast, Italy
I’ll admit, this is a bit of a basic choice but how can anyone deny the breathtaking beauty of the Amalfi Coast? My dad was a submariner and one time he was able to go to the Coast and ever since, I’ve just loved one of his photos and have dreamed of visiting this stunning locale, well before Instagram even existed! I’ve been to Italy before, but I was pretty young and had no say where we went, so whenever I go to Italy next, the Amalfi Coast will definitely make the cut!
Neuschwanstein Castle
The Neuschwanstein Castle is the real life inspiration for Cinderella Castle in Walt Disney World, so obviously it would make my travel bucketlist! Located in Germany, this castle is a 19th century Romanesque Revival structure that is 213 feet tall! It’s truly captivating and would be an honor to see in person. Fun fact–this is one of the locations in Soarin’ in EPCOT!
Bora Bora, Tahiti
I’m honestly not sure if this one will ever happen, but a girl can dream, right? I don’t have much to say about Bora Bora except it is. so. unbelievably. beautiful. The water is so clear, the sand so white, it’s just amazing.
Monument Valley, Arizona
Big Thunder Mountain Railroad in Magic Kingdom is my all time favorite Disney ride and just like I’d love to see the real life inspiration for the castle, I’d also love to see the real life inspo for my favorite ride. There’s some misconception out there that Bryce Canyon in Utah served as the inspiration, but Disney has said that the real source was Monument Valley. Truthfully, I see more resemblance in Bryce Canyon, but I’d love to see them both. Since this one is in the U.S., it should be one of the easier locations to check off my bucketlist.
There ya have it! These are the top 10 places on my travel bucketlist–I think it’s a pretty diverse group to see a little bit of all sorts of things. Have you been to any of these places? Leave a comment and let me know!
